GIVEN THE FACT THAT SO MANY PRIESTS IN THE ORDINARY FORM MASS CHANGE THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER AND WITHOUT FEAR OF CORRECTION BECAUSE THEIR BISHOPS DO THE SAME THING, HOW WRONG WOULD IT BE TO DO THE FOLLOWINING AT AN ALL VERNACULAR AD ORIENTEM ORDINARY FORM MASS?

The Mass begins with the Hymn, "The Church's One Foundation" or to please those who like a more contemporary sound, "Gather Us In".

Once the priest and ministers arrive at the foot of the altar, the choir chants in English the Introit of the day with verse and the Gloria Patri as the priest and ministers pray the traditional Prayers at the Foot of the Altar either in Latin or English given the fact the congregation is listening to the Introit.

Then the choir chants the Kyrie as the priest ascends to the altar to kiss and incense it after which the priest intones the Gloria in English at the center of the altar. At the completion of the Gloria, the priest kisses the altar, turns to the congregation and chants in English, "The Lord be with you" and then goes to the Epistle Side of the Altar for the chanting of the Collect of the Day.

The priest goes to the Sedalia and sits as the Liturgy of the Word takes place as is usual with the Ordinary Form's Lectionary. This is followed by a brilliant homily.

After the homily, the priest goes to the Sedalia and sits for a moment of silence. Then he ascends the ,altar and at its center intones the Credo in English and all chant it together. This is followed by the Universal Prayer introduced at the center of the altar with the deacon praying them who is next to the priest.

All sit as the altar is prepared by the transfer of the missal to the Gospel side, the chanting of the Offerrtory Chant and another anthem and the priest receiving the offerings.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist continues in the usual way for the Ordinary Form Mass but ad orientem.

Communion is received kneeling as the Communion Chant is sung and other Communion hymns.

During Holy Communion, the altar is cleared and the Roman Missal transferred to the Epistle side.

After Holy Communion, the Blessed Sacrament is placed in the tabernacle and the vessels to be purified are placed on the credence table for the deacon to cleanse following Mass.

After some silence with the priest sitting at the Sedalia, he ascends the altar to the Epistle side prays the Post Communion Prayer. Announcements are made and then the priest concludes the Mass by kissing the center of the altar, turning to the congregation for the Greeting and Final Blessing and the Deacon's dismissal.

All depart to the hymn "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name" or for those parishes with contemporary music, "And the Father Will Dance."

Why don’t you try it Father. Let’s see what happens.

That sounds pretty perfect to me. The next week, can it start with Alleluia, Sing to Jesus? I go through Hyfrydol withdrawal.

Yes to Alleluia and no to trying it, although I may have once in Macon, but basically I am chicken. Actually the only truly illicit thing in my proposal is the reorientation of The Introductory Rite to the ER's Form.

EF's Form of course.

Sedalia? If the priest goes there, he's headed to Missouri.

Yes it's the Missouri Synod Rite for a Synodal Church! Glad you caught that!

"Communion is received kneeling."

But there is no altar rail........

Seriously, what would be the objection to celebrating the OF Mass this way? When was the last time a priest was officially admonished for not saying the black, doing the red precisely? Isn't it a Francis effect that no one's that concerned anymore with niceties of law? For instance, the EF priests who were previously strict rubricists, but now feel free to use pre-1962 missal rites.

Henry,

Since the rubrics, as such, are positive law, and since, evidently, the chief legislator of the Latin Church does not expect strict adherence to the rubrics, and since even the present rubrics themselves explicitly acknowledge the guiding validity for celebrants and congregants of "the traditional practice of the Roman Rite" (GIRM No. 42), it would seem to follow that attributes of the EF Mass rightly modify the OF rubrics in celebrations of the Roman Mass, at least concerning gestures and postures, though perhaps not actual spoken textual formulas.

Practically speaking, perhaps the best approach is to re-orient the altar, re-enchant the music, re-rail the sanctuary, etc., while simultaneously and very publicly announcing one's support for homosexuals, a support qualified by expected chastity, of course, though for present purposes reference to this virtue could be left contently in the small print!

personally it sounds fantastic, however you had me at

" This is followed by a brilliant homily."

that alone would be an improvement around here
